MEETING MINUTES

NORTHPORT WASHINGTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY

November 22, 2016
C.E. Building

CALL TO ORDER
President Jael Regis called the meeting to order at 5:06 p.m.

AGENDA
The agenda was reviewed. MSP to approve the agenda with no additions or corrections.

ATTENDANCE
Attending were President Jael Regis, Vice President Connie Long and Treasurer Jada Regis. Also attending were Janet Cwalinski, Christy Graham, Tom Graham, Jon Hoyt and Laura Hoyt.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
President Jael Regis presented and reviewed the minutes of the meeting of October 25, 2016.

MOTION
MSP the minutes of October 25, 2016, as presented.

TREASURER’S REPORT
Jada Regis presented the Treasurer’s report, indicating that the balance in the account at the end of the month was $3,214.01. MSP to accept this report.

Internal Financial Audit: President Regis reported that Ann Van Dielen has been appointed as the third person on the committee. This group will perform the audit before the years’ end.

Gallo House Project Report: The committee met and toured the Gallo House with Maggie Crabtree. Then Maggie gave an informative workshop on steps to raise funds for this project. Her recommendations included: have each member commit to a pledge, approach the big donors first, write grants and have fundraisers lastly. She suggested that we produce a fact sheet that would have all the pertinent information on what our plan is for the project. We talked about partnering with various other groups such as the Lions Club, NCPR, Town Council and Chamber of Commerce. We would like to have a spaghetti dinner and invite the various organizations to attend. This event would have a guest speaker and facilitator as well.

Bylaws Committee Report: The bylaws have been reviewed and updated by the committee and are ready to be reviewed by the membership. It was suggested that we email a copy to the members for review so we can vote on them at the December meeting. Jael will ask Rose to do this. Members without email will get a paper copy. Website Construction Progress: The website, northporthistory.org is up and running. Jada would like feedback as it is a work in progress.

Face Board Completion Report: Jami was absent but it was reported that the board is in the town shop waiting to have the back sealed and a protective cover placed on the top.

Bob Long Memorial Plaque: Jael went to order it and didn’t have all the information. She will do this soon.

Branded merchandise Update: No report as Jami was absent.

NEW BUSINESS

Community Meeting: Tom Graham offered to donate hamburger meat for the spaghetti dinner. It will need to be picked up before January 2, 2017.

Minutes Circulation: It was suggested that the meeting minutes could be emailed to the membership so we could read through them before the meetings rather than having to read them at the meeting. Paper copies could still be available for those without computer accessibility.

New Member: Janet Cwalinski's info needs to be added to the membership list.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Raffle: Jael has books of raffle tickets for anyone who would like to sell more.

ADJOURNMENT
MSP to adjourn meeting at 5:55pm.

The next scheduled meeting is December 27, 2016, Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. at the C.E. Building.

Respectfully submitted by Connie Long acting as secretary.
