MEETING MINUTES

NORTHPORT WASHINGTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Dec. 27, 2016

CALL TO ORDER
President Jael Regis called the meeting to order at 5:06 p.m.


AGENDA
The agenda was reviewed. MSP to approve the agenda with no additions or corrections.


ATTENDANCE
Attending were President Jael Regis, Treasurer Jada Regis and Secretary Rose Kalamarides. Also attending were Rick Scoles, Jim Murphy and Hide Murphy.


APPROVAL OF MINUTES
President Jael Regis presented the minutes of the meeting of November 22, 2017 but dispensed with the reading of the minutes.


MOTION
MSP the minutes of November 22, 2016, as presented.


TREASURER’S REPORT
Jada Regis presented the Treasurer’s report, indicating that the balance in the account at the end of the month was $3,914.66. MSP to accept this report.

OLD BUSINESS


Internal Financial Audit: President Regis reported that internal audit is delayed until April 2017.


Gallo House Project Report: Jada Regis reported that Art Grobben spoke with T.J. Gallo, one of the owners of the Gallo house. T.J. told Art he was waiting for an offer. The group discussed the fundraising efforts and the concern that there is adequate support in Northport to keep a visitor center/museum/artisan gallery open once completed. Rose reported that the Community Summit Steering Committee met and a community potluck to describe the project and determine the community support is scheduled for the end of January.


Bylaws Committee Report: The bylaws have been reviewed and updated by the committee and are ready to be reviewed by the membership at the January meeting. Rose will bring copies with changes and suggested modifications.
Website Construction Progress: The website, northporthistory.org is up and running. Jada would like feedback as it is a work in progress.


Face Board Completion Report: Jada said the board is in the town’s maintenance building and he said he will check on its condition and speak with Jami about completing.


Bob Long Memorial Plaque: Jael presented the Bob Long memorial plaque.


NEW BUSINESS


Jim and Hide Murphy discussed the Kendrick Building, also known as the Murphy Mansion, the historic mercantile which was the retail mainstay of Northport for generations. The Murphy’s are striving to create a venue for entertainment, meetings etc. in the space which once housed the mercantile. The next meeting of the Historical Society, January 24, 2017 will be held at the old Kendrick Building so that attendees may tour the facility.


ANNOUNCEMENTS


Jada circulated an essay sent to him from Pat Graham entitled, “My Year in Northport.” This will be added to the artifacts in the museum.


ADJOURNMENT
MSP to adjourn meeting at 6:07 p.m.


The next scheduled meeting January 24, 2017, Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. at the Kendrick Mercantile Building.
