CALL TO ORDER
President Jael Regis called the meeting to order at 5:07 p.m.
Attending were President Jael Regis, and Secretary Rose Kalamarides. Also attending were Rick Scoles, Glen Merchant, Janet Cwalinski, Aimee Kowell, Bud Budinger, Heidi & Jim Murphy, Jada Regis and Tamarra Molloy.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES AND AGENDA
President Jael Regis reviewed the minutes of the meeting of May 22, 2018 and the agenda for the June 26, 2018 meeting.
The motion to approve the minutes was deferred until Ann VanDielen’s arrival to clarify an item in the Treasurer’s Report.
MSP to approve the June 26, 2018 agenda.
Rick Scoles reviewed the progress of the project to restore the exterior of the house. Restoring or replacing the windows was again discussed. The issue of the National Historic Register was discussed.
UCR Construction Bid
The bid for a complete remodel/restoration of the house was presented and discussed. Brian Day with UCR Construction prepared the bid; except for architect/design and permits/fees. This bid was necessary for the grant writing.
Rose Kalamarides distributed and reviewed the newsletter and asked for input by July 1.
Diane Wilson Arrived at 5:30 p.m.
Jael reported that the letter to Boise Cascade resulted in an offer for product. Once a materials list is developed, we will approach Boise Cascade for a donation of material. Diane Wilson reported on the grant writing progress and said she submitted grants to Teck and Burlington Northern and had a goal to complete the Murdoch grant by the end of June.
Jada Regis reported that he had added new pages to the website under a tab titled, “What’s New.” One page chronicles the relic near the boat launch; a brick structure which may be part of the Smelter Pumping Station and one page includes the 1916-1917 Polk Directory for Stevens, Ferry & Pend Orielle counties.
Ann VanDielen arrived at 5:50 p.m.
MSP to approve the minutes of May 22, 2018 as amended to include the word “with attachments” to appear in the motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report.
Ann VanDielen presented the Treasurer’s report, for the period May 22, 2018 to June 25, 2018. The Treasurer’s profit and loss statements showed income of $1,070.00 and expenses of $885.44 for net income of $184.56. She also reviewed the balance sheet as of June 25, 2018. Total assets and liabilities are $74,620.00
MSP to approve the Treasurer’s Report of June 25, 2018, as presented with attachments to be included with the minutes.
Treasurer VanDielen also presented a list of bills to be approved for reimbursement of totaling $1,346.14. She also presented and reviewed the petty cash fund activity as of June 25, 2018, which has a current balance of $110.46.
Tamarra’s Senior Project
Tamarra Molloy, a high school senior, attended the meeting to discuss her senior project for 2018/2019. She explained that she wanted to do a project on the history of Northport. Several suggestions were
presented, including a book for children on the town’s history and a walking tour of Northport’s historical sites. Jael said she would provide the existing walking tour to Tamarra to help her decide on her project.
Romano family request
The Romano family has requested information regarding their family who lived on Flat Creek in the 1960’s.
Aghost group request
Jael reported that AGHOST, a group interested paranormal activity visited the museum several times to detect such activity. They requested a picture from the museum. It was decided to send them a copy of the picture they had requested.
The Historical Network
Rose reported on her attendance at the monthly Historical Network meeting and the availability of a $1,000 grant for which she will apply.
Several Northport stories were shared. A picture of Jack Lael, on a bucking bronco when he won the “Most Weather Beaten Cowboy in the US” was shared.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
The next scheduled meeting will be July 24, 2018 Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. at the Welcome Center.
