The Smelter Monument
In 2004, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) cleaned up the remains of the Northport smelter.
In order to preserve the memory of the time when Northport thrived and industry reigned, the EPA was approached for a donation for a monument. Two thousand dollars was given for a bronze plaque. Thus the Monument project was born. |
